Sodwana Bay Beach

Sodwana Bay is located on the east coast of South Africa, in one of the most unique and unspoiled parts of the world. The KwaZulu-Natal province is home to the Zulu people who have inhabited the area in harmony with the land for several centuries. They still remain the predominant ethnic group in the region. Situated in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the Maputaland Marine Reserve, efforts are made to protect its integrity from environmental degradation. You will find a peaceful and yet dynamic little town to spend some quality time away from home.

Come explore the area, meet the locals and enjoy a wide variety of activities in one of the top ten scuba diving destinations in the world.

To sum it up in one word Sodwana Bay Beach is fantastic! This long stretch of beach on the Elephant Coast offers a host of activities for beach goers. If you’re chilled then come and relax on the beach and work on your tan, but if you’re active you’re in for a treat.

If you’re an experienced surfer (or a beginner) you’ll love being in the water as there is a consistent swell which allows for good waves. The water temperature is a toasty 24 degrees Celsius on average and quite clear so you’ll easily spot the reefs and rocks below the surface.

Fishing is also an option with plenty of deep sea charters working from the area. Other activities include kitesurfing, ocean tours, snorkeling, scuba diving and spearfishing. And a highlight of the beach are the turtle tours in season (end November to end February).
